Reporting directly to a Nurse Manager, this position will supervise Medical Assistants (MAs) and, with other interdisciplinary leaders, manage integrated health services in Recuperative Care. Responsibilities include support of direct reports, quality improvement efforts for clinical access, and participating in an integrated team for patients discharging from a hospital who are too frail to heal on the streets or in a shelter. This will be done in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing CCH to ensure the highest quality of care is maintained at all times. This position is approximately 50% administrative and 50% skilled medical assistant care to the patients. The primary work location is the Stout Street Recuperative Care Center, but may include Stout Street Health Center, home visits, community-based outreach, or other CCH integrated care sites as needed for collaboration needs. We pay differentials for weekends, evenings, overnights, and holidays. Some weekend and holiday rotations will be required. NOTE: In order to ensure that our consumers receive the best possible care the candidate chosen to fill this position will be required to complete our internal credentialing and privileging process prior to a start date. The credentialing and privileging timeline is dependent on the selected candidate's submission of documents necessary for clearance. Please note that a start date will be scheduled once credentialing and privileging is complete.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program or Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification.
  • Preferred experience as a supervisor.
  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant/EMT working for CCH preferred
  • At least “Meets Expectations” on their most recent performance review.
  • Certification in basic life support (CPR).
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises health center-based Medical Assistants (MA). Performs various personnel actions related to hiring, orientation, onboarding, performance appraisals, and counseling.
  • Responsible for the competency of all MA staff members, ensuring medical assistant staff members are delivering high-quality healthcare services while practicing within their perspective scope, at the highest level, in accordance with the State of Colorado.
  • Holds weekly 1:1 supervisions with direct reports, including permanent, temporary, agency, or volunteer staff who are filling these roles. Provides feedback, coaching, mentorship, training, support, competency evaluations, and performance management feedback.
  • Maintains a high standard of care on the team by offering or assigning relevant training, by providing clear expectations of best practices, policies, and procedures, by evaluating staff with quality assurance metrics and supporting remediation or counseling as necessary.
  • Manages the role's continuous responsibilities, including, but not limited to, scheduling, timesheets, Safetyzone review, staff completion of mandatory training, punctuality and attendance at pertinent meetings, and ensuring team adherence to policies, procedures, and standard work.
  • Responsible for specific huddles surrounding updates on patient care, daily staffing, operations, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Consistently adheres, improves, and updates the Standard Work for the MA Supervisor position.
  • Ensures, through delegation and engagement of frontline staff, the utilization of a Visual Management Board to communicate quality improvement metrics, policy and procedure changes, and announcements.
  • Communicates pertinent information to Operations and MA-Nursing Leadership team members regarding MA FTE, discipline prioritization matrix, minimum and ideal team staffing ratios, and scheduling adjustments or other special considerations that may impact scheduling.
  • Communicates, organizes, and co-leads applicable meetings regularly with other MA Supervisors. Facilitates, leads, or participates in other leadership, discipline, or inter-discipline team meetings.
  • Maintains a professional and confidential work environment. Helps create and coach a climate within the integrated healthcare team of collaboration, mutual respect, and trust.
  • Ensures collaboration of care and consistency within and between all integrated health teams, an ongoing part of our best practices policy.
  • Effectively communicates with patients, integrated health team members, and community partners. Ensures pertinent information is shared with team members promptly.
  • Acts as a leader to share information and problem-solve with other MA, RN, or CCH leadership for continuous improvement to patient care and staff needs. Brings personnel issues to the attention of appropriate supervisors for resolution.
  • Champions and leads quality improvement initiatives for the team. Shares knowledge with and coaches other MA teams or interdisciplinary members on quality improvement methodology.
  • Maintains competence in all duties outlined in the current Medical Assistant job description, including but not limited to noted essential job functions under categories of safe direct clinical care, laboratory collection and specimen processing, proficiency of electronic health record and other documentation practices, and the integrated healthcare model of care.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, or holiday shifts at any location as needed.
