About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Medical Assistant Specialist Float. The role involves preparing patients for visits, assisting physicians with procedures, administering medications, and maintaining medical records according to nursing policies. The position also requires active participation in the care team and may involve care coordination duties. Maintaining current CPR certification is essential.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 1 year of Medical Assistant work experience within the last 2 years.
• Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification or to be completed within first 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience or training in a medical health care facility as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Summons and prepares patient for office visit.
• Assists the physician with medical office procedures.
• Administers medication, including injections; documents medication given or prescribed by ordering physicians as required by specialty.
• Adheres to nursing policies and procedures when documenting information in patient’s medical record.
• Maintains the integrity of the office.
• Assumes responsibility for maintaining current certification in CPR.
• Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policies and procedures and Nursing Update newsletters.
• Is an active member of the care team and may include additional duties related to care coordination.
