The Medical Assistant – Sleep Lab supports both inpatient sleep study services and outpatient Sleep Disorders Center operations, helping ensure a seamless experience for patients undergoing diagnostic sleep testing. In this role, caregivers prepare, deliver, and set up portable sleep monitoring equipment for patients throughout Main Campus, collaborating closely with nursing staff and care teams to provide basic education and support regarding the sleep study process. After completing inpatient equipment setup, the Medical Assistant returns to the Sleep Disorders Center to assist with daily clinic operations, including patient intake, triage support, room preparation, appointment readiness, and distribution of patient materials. This position serves as an important link between inpatient and outpatient sleep services, requiring strong communication, organization, and customer service skills to support efficient workflows and a positive patient experience. This is a part-time role. A caregiver in this position will work between 7:00pm and 11:00pm with no weekends or holidays.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting Program (As designated by the Enterprise MA Steering Committee)
  • Completion of a clinical externship (Extensive clinical experience may be considered in lieu of formal clinical externship)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (within new hire period)
  • Current demonstrated clinical proficiency
  • Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests and documenting patient care.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas.
  • Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
