About The Position

The Medical Assistant Sr performs clinical duties independently and demonstrates consistent proficiency across more than one service line. This role contributes to efficient clinic flow, accurate clinical documentation, and consistent patient care with minimal supervision. The role supports Variety Care’s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and commitment to provide care that is Safe, Effective, Patient Centered, Timely, Efficient, and Equitable. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or one (1) or more years of equivalent experience.
  • Experience across more than one service line and the ability to independently manage assigned clinical workflows with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Medical Assistant core competencies.
  • Must complete and pass CPR course within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to travel 15% or more within state between clinics.
  • Proficient computer skills, including data entry and typing.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation used in lab point of care testing, as directed, within 90 days.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information private in accordance with HIPAA and Variety Care policy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the patient population.
  • Ability to work in a multi-faceted, fast-paced work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant Certificate; demonstrated proficiency across multiple service lines and independent workflow execution may be considered in lieu of certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Speak, write and comprehend.
  • Previous clinic or primary practice experience.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs clinical intake duties and manages assigned workflows with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates proficiency across more than one service line (e.g., Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Women’s Health) as assigned.
  • Accurately measures, records, and documents patient information in the EMR, ensuring completeness and timeliness.
  • Administers immunizations under provider direction, including VIS review, OSIIS updates, and accurate EMR documentation.
  • Collects and processes specimens following established protocols and quality standards.
  • Applies clinical policies, procedures, and standards to support patient safety and efficient clinic operations.
  • Utilizes EMR functionality effectively to support clinic flow, documentation accuracy, and patient care.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and identifies discrepancies or issues, escalating appropriately.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, providers, and team members to support coordinated care.
  • Supports clinic operations by adapting to workflow changes and assisting during high-volume periods.
  • Accepts feedback and incorporates coaching to maintain and improve performance.
  • May be required to float within or between clinics to maintain business continuity.
  • Provides leadership and works with all staff to achieve the goals of the “Quintuple Aim” of healthcare reform—to improve the experience of care, improve health outcomes, and decrease healthcare costs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
