About The Position

Ukpong Cardiology is seeking a Medical Assistant / Scribe to assist physicians with medical treatments, procedures, and exams. This role involves preparing patients, taking vitals, recording health history, and maintaining documentation standards. The Medical Assistant / Scribe will also manage patient communication, including referral processes and prescription refills, and ensure examination rooms are properly equipped and maintained. A key responsibility includes documenting patient visits in the electronic health records system under the supervision of a physician.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain current documentation standards.
  • Ability to complete tasks within the shift.
  • Ability to notify the provider of changes in symptoms in patients.
  • Ability to complete the referral process for insurances.
  • Ability to handle Rx refill calls to pharmacies.
  • Ability to set up machines, administer injections and medications, and perform routine specimen collection and tests.
  • Ability to prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments.
  • Ability to manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies.
  • Ability to receive and direct phone calls, schedule appointments, check-in patients, obtain necessary patient information to file and update patient records, and ensure all forms and consents are completed by patients.
  • Willingness to assist in any area as requested by physician or office manager.
  • Experience taking notes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic health records system.
  • Experience working with a supervising Physician or Doctor to complete and submit medical records.
