Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or hospital setting OR Nationally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following agencies: NAHP, NCCT, AAMA, AMT, NHA

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
  • Current CPR / BLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates clinical competence in the direct care of patients and assisting MDs with procedures.
  • Performs clinical duties within scope of practice, complying with established standards, policies, and protocols.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to patient care, addressing individual and family needs and communicating them in a timely manner.
  • Directs and escorts patients to exam rooms promptly.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence when assisting physicians/mid-level healthcare professionals and/or nurses during exams and office diagnostic procedures/treatments.
  • Performs authorized procedures competently (e.g., vital signs, vision screening, selected laboratory tests) as directed.
  • Seeks validation/guidance from physicians, mid-level healthcare professionals, and/or nurses when necessary.
  • Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies as instructed.
  • Inspects, cleans/prepares, and processes instruments/equipment according to guidelines.
  • Processes specimens for transport to the laboratory, ensuring proper labeling and order placement.
