About The Position

Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced Medical Assistant for their busy Radiation Department at their Ascension Riverside Office. The Medical Assistant assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a medical environment that may include medical oncology, radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging, or BMT. They maintain efficient patient flow, assist with patient care such as exams, procedures, and patient education. The role also performs miscellaneous clinic support tasks including filing, answering phones, and maintaining the physician’s schedule. The position requires support and adherence to Cancer Specialists of North Florida’s Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Travel will be required to any CSNF clinics that provide radiation therapy to patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • 0-3 years’ experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician and verifies presence of consent prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Assists with delegated patient education activities including distributing education literature.
  • Maintains all exams/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures, and hospital admission, and schedules appointments to follow-up on tests and results.
  • Arranges for pre-authorization and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
  • Performs other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, reception, as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • All other duties as assigned.
