This includes all staff, from front-desk to physicians. The Radiation Oncology Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in this mission. Responsibilities include monitoring schedules and organizing patient flow for physician office visits or in-office procedures. The Medical Assistant accompanies patients to exam rooms, performs triage, collects patient history, and provides physical assessments as delegated by physicians. This role also involves scheduling and obtaining results for testing, procedures, and other services, interpreting and accurately communicating these results to physicians and patients as necessary. The Medical Assistant manages patient charts to ensure clinical information is complete, including timely scanning of forms into charts, and prepares charts in the EMR prior to physician visits. They are also responsible for the upkeep of exam rooms regarding sterilization, infection control, supplies, and equipment. Patient communication, including answering emails, voicemails, and returning calls, is a key part of the role, as is completing requests for information from other UCBC/UHA staff. Maintaining the strictest confidentiality with regards to patient information and promoting HIPAA compliance are essential duties, along with performing any other assigned tasks or special projects.
