Medical Assistant Program Director
About The Position
The Program Director is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the smooth operation of their individual instructional departments to achieve student retention and placement rates that meet or exceed accreditation standards, as well as ensuring appropriate student satisfaction rates. The role also involves carrying a teaching load, making recommendations for departmental planning, staffing, scheduling, supervision, curriculum improvement, and professional development. If the program includes a clinical/externship component, the Program Director is responsible for establishing sufficient sites, monitoring student experiences, and maintaining records.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree.
- Current Medical Assisting certification
- Minimum three years of experience in the field with one-year direct patient care
- Prior teaching experience
- Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
- Ability to support of a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state laws and rules, compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and, and internal policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
Responsibilities
- Determine departmental staff needs, conduct interviews, and recommend hires.
- Orient and train new faculty members in programs and techniques.
- Evaluate faculty and staff performance and recommend professional development.
- Instruct classes, act as a substitute teacher, and propose teaching schedules.
- Supervise faculty, manage departmental facilities, and conduct meetings.
- Communicate with faculty for input, advise students and faculty, and ensure departmental operations.
- Administer retention programs and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
- Maintain syllabi, cover make-up sessions, and participate in graduation ceremonies.
- Prepare students for certification exams and manage clinical/externship components.
- Participate in Advisory Board and Curriculum Review Committee meetings.
- Create a classroom environment that fosters academic growth and professional development.
- Provide extra help to students struggling with coursework and advise those with minor issues.
- Communicate with the Director of Education regarding student progress and performance trends.
- Correct and return quizzes, tests, and lab assignments within 48 hours; submit grades promptly.
- Utilize instructional aids and community resources, including guest speakers and field trips.
- Enhance curriculum by devising assignments, worksheets, tests, and activities.
- Perform other duties as required.
