About The Position

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant Proceduralist to join their ENT/Otolaryngology team. This role involves assisting with office-based procedures, maintaining sterile techniques, preparing and cleaning equipment, and providing direct patient care in an outpatient setting. Requirements

Medical Assistant certification from NHA, NCCT, AAMA, or AMT
Current BLS from the American Heart Association upon hire
High School Diploma or GED required
Basic computer skills required
Current Medical Assistant Certification in one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
Current AHA BLS certification is required for hire and must be renewed throughout employment
Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements including certification and annual skills competency

Responsibilities

Assist with office based procedures following aseptic technique
Hand off instruments
Assist with obtaining, labeling and sending specimens
Perform low and high level disinfection procedures
Perform POC testing
Enter orders into computer
Room patients
Set up exam/ procedure rooms
Perform routine and more complex medical assistant clinical duties including taking vital signs, administering a limited number of medications, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms
Assist physicians and APP's with patients, equipment preparation, aseptic technique and surgical procedures
Prepare the exam/ procedure room by assembling routine supplies, materials, instruments and equipment
Accountable for the care and handling of instruments and equipment
Assist in the preparation, transportation, and positioning of patients for the procedure
Provide for the physical comfort, safety, and privacy of the patient during the procedure
Observe patient for possible symptoms which may indicate a change in condition and report to the appropriate member of the medical team
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the principles of sterile technique and infection control
Practice appropriate procedures to maintain a sterile environment
Chaperone and assist for every patient intimate examination
Perform accurate POC testing
