About The Position

This position is for a PRN Medical Assistant in Artesia, NM. The role involves direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, performing bedside testing, and basic nursing procedures. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, managing supply inventory, and performing basic clerical duties. The role requires knowledge of basic nursing and patient care, with an understanding of age-specific patient needs. The work environment involves daily patient contact and potential exposure to bodily fluids. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, specialized training in basic patient care, and formal nursing assistant and/or medical assistant training. Previous experience in a clinic setting is preferred. Certification as a Nurse Assisting or Medical Assisting is preferred.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Specialized, short-term training in basic patient care
• Formal nursing assistant and/or medical assistant training required
• Knowledge of basic nursing and patient care
• Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position
• Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security
• Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations

Nice To Haves

• Clinic setting experience preferred
• Certification in Nurse Assisting or Certification in Medical Assisting preferred

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient vitals.
• Perform bedside testing.
• Perform basic nursing procedures such as oral care, perineal/foley care, non-sterile soaks, or thermal applications.
• Ensure cleanliness of office and examination rooms.
• Clean and store equipment.
• Maintain supply inventory and re-stock as required.
• Perform basic clerical duties as needed.
