About The Position

This role involves assisting with direct patient care procedures and related tasks, including obtaining patient histories and performing metabolic profiles. The Medical Assistant will obtain vital signs, height, and weight for clients, provide frequent rounding, and address client needs. Responsibilities also include performing UDS/HCG testing according to CLIA standards, maintaining inventory of medicines and medical supplies, and supervising or administering client medications under the direction of a medical provider. The role includes scheduling and monitoring medication clinic appointments, authorizing drug refills, and scheduling outside medical appointments for clients. Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory and licensure standards are key aspects of this position. Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • One year working as a Medical Assistant in a licensed healthcare facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks.
  • Assists in obtaining patient histories and performs metabolic profiles.
  • Obtains vital signs, height, and weight for clients on the inpatient unit as directed by the LPN/RN.
  • Provides frequent rounding on clients and addresses/reports client needs to LPN/RN as appropriate.
  • Performs UDS/HCG testing adhering to CLIA standards.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Under direct orders given by the medical provider, supervises self-administered client medication, or performs medication administration depending on the specific clinical program’s protocols.
  • Schedules and monitors medication clinic appointments with medical providers in conjunction with the site business staff.
  • Authorizes drug refills as ordered by the medical provider and telephones/faxes prescriptions to the pharmacy.
  • Schedules outside medical appointments for clients as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Responsible for obtaining necessary medical information as requested by the medical provider.
  • Responsible for maintaining current and accurate documentation.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulatory and licensure standards.
