The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics LLC (CAO) is one of the nation’s largest Orthopaedics practices, owned and operated by physicians, with over 60 locations across Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. With approximately 2,000 employees, working in 28 Divisions, CAO is a growing business with revenues of approximately $250 Million. CAO is committed to be the Orthopaedics provider of choice for our patients; partner of choice for payors and health systems; and employer of choice by attracting and retaining a talented workforce. The Medical Assistant assists providers with efficient patient flow while maintaining high standards of care and performs a variety of general patient care activities. The Medical Assistant helps to ensure a positive patient experience while performing the analytical, technical and customer service skills necessary to support the care of the patient. We are currently seeking a pre-med student for a full-time position during their gap year. This opportunity will begin in the summer of 2026, and we are now starting the interview process. The selected candidate must be available to work full-time for a minimum commitment of one year. This position is specifically for students planning to apply to medical school and taking a gap year before matriculation. Throughout the year, you will gain valuable clinical experience and exposure to the medical field. You will be expected to apply medical knowledge at the level appropriate for a medical assistant — not to make clinical decisions or function as a physician. Letters of recommendation for medical school applications will be provided only to those who demonstrate a strong work ethic, consistent performance, genuine interest in the field, and a clear effort to understand and appropriately apply medical knowledge. This enables the doctors to make a thoughtful and informed assessment of each student’s potential to succeed in medical school and ultimately as a physician.
