The Medical Assistant will perform a high volume of phlebotomy, manage lab specimens, document patient care using electronic medical records, handle administrative tasks like scheduling and payments, and provide clinical support for fertility patients, including room setup, vital signs, and assisting with procedures.
Requirements
- Strong phlebotomy skills required
- High school diploma
- Computer proficiency required
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and build and maintain effective working relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a certified or formal medical training program preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform a high volume of phlebotomy using proper technique and universal precautions
- Set up, stock, and maintain supplies for the blood drawing stations
- Ensure lab specimens are sent to proper labs
- Document patient care services utilizing daily logs, electronic medical records, and appropriate outside laboratory forms
- Utilize the computer in entering labs and printing labels, ensure orders for lab work are in place
- Check patients in/out, answer phones, schedule appointments, and collect payments
- Clinical care of fertility patients
- Set up rooms for procedures, take vital signs, obtain patient height and weight, assist with procedures as needed, clean and stock rooms and care for equipment according to manufacturer and OSHA guidelines
- Maintain patient medical records through the use of electronic medical records
