Rather than simply responding to patient requests, the Concierge Medical Assistant anticipates patient needs, strengthens continuity of care, and creates a personalized healthcare experience that promotes trust, loyalty, improved health outcomes, and long-term patient satisfaction. The Personalized Care Medical Assistant will serve as a primary point of contact for Personalized Care Program members while delivering a highly personalized, relationship-centered healthcare experience. The Personalized Care Medical Assistant is expected to anticipate patient needs and create an exceptional experience that promotes patient satisfaction, engagement and retention in the program. This position is also expected to assist the Physicians in examination and treatment of patients. This position is scheduled 5 days per week, 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduation from an accredited healthcare program, such as Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Maintain certifications in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • At least 1 year Medical Assistant experience in family or internal medicine required.
  • Current BLS card required.

Nice To Haves

  • Nationally recognized Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) strongly preferred.
  • EMR experience preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in family medicine or pediatrics preferred.
  • Experience with the Athenahealth practice management system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and complete intake by rooming patients, obtaining medical history, and verifying patient information.
  • Document a complete and accurate set of vital signs.
  • Update all applicable sections of the electronic medical record accurately and timely, including allergies, medications, vaccines, social history, and quality measures.
  • Assist providers during examinations and treatments; perform point-of-care testing appropriate to training, certification, skill level, and state regulations.
  • Maintain exam rooms and storage areas by stocking supplies and ensuring rooms are clean, organized, and ready for patient care.
  • Clean and disinfect treatment rooms after patient examinations and maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Conduct all interactions in a service-oriented, attentive, cooperative, sensitive, and respectful manner with patients, visitors, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to patient calls, portal messages, emails, text communications, and voicemails throughout the working day.
  • Perform pre-visit planning in accordance with standard operating procedure guidelines.
  • Help ensure preventive care, chronic disease management, and health maintenance needs are addressed throughout the year, not only during annual appointments.
  • Proactively monitor preventive care and quality measures; assist patients with scheduling recommended screenings, immunizations, laboratory testing, and follow-up appointments before they become overdue.
  • Conduct proactive outreach after specialist consultations, emergency department visits, hospital admissions, and hospital discharges to support continuity of care, answer questions, obtain records, and coordinate necessary follow-up with the primary care physician.
  • Maintain required logs and checks, including refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, and other clinic requirements.
  • Provide backup front office support as needed, including check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and answering phones.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and protect patient information across all internal and external systems.
  • Communicate appropriately with awareness of surroundings, audience, confidentiality, and patient experience.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and other work-related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the clinic and Personalized Care Program.
