The Medical Assistant - Per Diem will assist with the ambulatory patient's arrival during a patient session, monitor basic physiological parameters, and provide direct patient care in accordance with the procedures of the various patient sessions and as appropriate to the ages of the patients served. The role requires proficiency and understanding of blood specimen procurement within the scope of practice, and the ability to administer medications in accordance with established guidelines. The Medical Assistant will demonstrate competency in performing all procedures within the scope of practice and requirements of the position as appropriate to the age of the patients, their growth and development. They will provide continuous support to the provider for all patient-related tasks, handle telephone and appointment scheduling, and be knowledgeable of emergency procedures. Additionally, the Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining exam rooms, utility rooms, and supply carts in a clean and orderly condition, ensuring all are supplied appropriately and equipment is maintained. They must also report all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences of an urgent nature as they develop.
