About The Position

The successful candidate must be a caring and personable individual who loves working with kids and possesses strong communication skills. Candidates must be detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, be flexible, work well within a team, and have superior interpersonal skills. Job Summary: Under general supervision of physicians and nurse practitioners, the full-time Medical Assistant performs a variety of routine administrative, clerical and clinical supportive services to assist medical staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work full-time at both offices located in Novato and Larkspur
  • Must have a valid Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant Educational program
  • Must have current CPR and BLS certification
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID and willing to receive annual COVID and flu vaccines
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced health-care clinic environment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and written.
  • Ability to read English and comprehend medical information.
  • Must be able to work at both the Novato and Larkspur locations.

Nice To Haves

  • California Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification desired but not required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of work experience, including vaccine administration, is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in pediatrics is a plus.
  • Bilingual Portuguese and/or Spanish is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the office and exam rooms for patient care, including cleaning, organizing and stocking of supplies.
  • Performs patient intake, including (but not limited to) measurement of vital signs, height, weight, hearing and vision tests, and spirometry testing.
  • Maintains cleanliness of office and exam rooms at all times per infection control policies.
  • Inventories and stocks medical supplies and materials.
  • Administers vaccines and oral medication, and performs routine laboratory tests.
  • Processes in-office labs
  • Follows all policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines
  • Works collaboratively with all staff and clinicians
  • Documents accurately and completely using an Electronic Medical Record
  • Attends and participates in required meetings, training and educational programs.
  • Performs administrative responsibilities in collaboration with the front office staff
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
