About The Position

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for their Pediatric Primary Care clinic at the University Pediatrics Clinic. This role supports the licensed healthcare team in performing office examinations and procedures. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for organizing and managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, assisting with patient and family education, and communicating with the patient's healthcare team. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience
  • MA certification recognized by Vanderbilt Health (AMT, AAMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP) or ability to obtain certification within 120 days.
  • Can sit for exam if they have 12 months of patient care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supports patient flow as well as unit operations by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards.
  • Facilitates identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs.
  • Performs/assists with procedures according to organizational/departmental standards.
  • Collects and documents patient screening data for the healthcare team.
  • Assists with patient and family education.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
