The Medical Assistant - Orthopedics will perform rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. They will assist the provider with procedures, perform lab duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, and administer medications and vaccines. This role also involves other duties such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, patient messaging, and appointment scheduling. The Medical Assistant must be cross-trained to perform duties relevant to the specialty or clinic practice and demonstrate effective communication and teamwork. They will maintain a clean work environment, ensure instruments and equipment are properly cleaned and stocked, and demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served.
