About The Position

New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center, a division of Northeast Orthopaedic Alliance, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant / Ortho Technologist to join our clinical team. In this role, you will provide essential support to our orthopedic providers, ensuring high-quality patient care and smooth clinical operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care. Provide professional orthopaedic care for clinic patients in accordance with established standards and practices. The Ortho Technologist will also serve as an educational resource, supporting staff training and consistency in casting, splinting, bracing techniques, and use of DME supplies across NHOC locations.

Requirements

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds
  • Work under stressful conditions and irregular hours when needed
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids
  • Must be able to travel between Bedford, Nashua, and Londonderry locations for training and scheduling needs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for ordering and managing orthopedic equipment and supplies
  • Take patient measurements (e.g., grip strength, leg length, etc.)
  • Fabricate, apply, adjust, and remove orthopedic devices and casts
  • Measure and fit patients for braces and other orthopedic supports
  • Remove sutures and staples; change dressings and provide wound care using proper aseptic techniques
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and assist in assessing medical concerns
  • Obtain vital signs and assist with patient flow through the clinic
  • Prepare exam rooms, instruments, and supplies for examinations and procedures
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain proper stock of supplies
  • Respond to and document patient calls or messages as directed
  • Assist with test scheduling and specimen labeling
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per nursing standards
  • Draw up medications for physician administration and check for expirations
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions
  • Perform additional duties and travel to other NHOC locations as needed
