About The Position

Franciscan Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant or LPN to join our team in Crown Point, Indiana. This role is crucial for supporting clinical duties across multiple ambulatory clinics. You will assist providers and staff in coordinating patient care, managing appointments, executing physician orders, and maintaining electronic medical records. This position offers a consistent day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with no weekends, and a 40-hour work week. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Medical Assisting Program or 5 years of medical assistant experience
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Associate's Degree Nursing / Patient Care (for LPN)
  • Certificate Nursing / Patient Care (for LPN)
  • 2 years Nursing/Patient Care (for LPN)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - State Licensing Board (for LPN)

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Medical Assistant through American Allied Health (AAMA) (AMT), (NAHP), (NCCT),(NHA) or must obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association (for LPN)

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers and staff in coordinating patient care.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Execute physician orders for lab testing.
  • Enter information in the electronic medical record system.
  • Function as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers.
  • Room patients, take vitals, and obtain a comprehensive medical history.
  • Document patient care via electronic medical record.
  • Administer vaccines, injections, and medications.
  • Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, and medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider.
  • Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging, and in person.
  • Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and process sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed.
