About The Position

Compass Oncology, the largest multi-specialty medical oncology practice in the Pacific Northwest, is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team at our Vancouver Cancer Center. This role involves assisting physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment, promoting efficient patient flow, and performing clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physician’s schedule. The position supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum (1-3) years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant, preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including but not limited to, hormones and biological growth factors.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and schedules appointments to follow-upon test results, as applicable.
  • Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
  • Demonstrates reliability and punctuality by consistently showing up on time and maintaining dependable attendance to support team operations and organizational goals.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.
