Requirements

  • High School Degree
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
  • EKG
  • Injections
  • Venipuncture
  • Performance of common lab tests according to establish CLIA guidelines and TriHealth policy
  • Up to 1 year experience in a physician office or related setting

Responsibilities

  • Assists the physician in examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of physician.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Cross-trained to perform duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of delivery of patient care; work cooperatively within the team concept demonstrating flexibility, motivation and commitment to quality patient care.
  • Patient related duties, medical record maintenance/documentation, and safety/environmental duties.
  • Provides support to physicians/clinical staff.
  • Skillfully performs/obtains tests and specimens assuring proper departmental procedures are followed.
  • Performs technical skills according to hospital's and department's policies/procedures, appropriate competencies, and accepted standards of practice.
  • Maintains a high level of efficiency, organization, and time management skills to promote efficiency in the Medical Center. Shows the ability to function successfully with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates strong written, verbal and phone skills. Demonstrates courtesy, respect toward patients, professionals, and team members. Notifies appropriate team members of abnormal test results or emergent situations.
  • Accurately documents patient care in chart, maintains confidentiality of patient records and files appropriate documentation in patient chart.
  • Accurately and safely maintains general appearance and cleanliness of exam rooms, supply areas, and nurses station. Disposes of contaminated equipment and disposable supplies in accordance with infection control guidelines.
