As a Medical Assistant on the Neurology team, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, families and visitors throughout their surgical journey. You will utilize your medical and administrative skills to provide support to patients and facilitate them through their surgical journey. All your work helps ensure the best possible health outcomes. Additionally, you will receive ample opportunities to enhance your skills, gain hands-on experience, and explore advanced positions at Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting Program
  • Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
  • Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period
  • Current demonstrated clinical proficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assisting Certification (CMA, NCMA or CCMA)
  • Successful completion of Cleveland Clinic Externship
  • Medical background/or pursuing something in the medical field (currently in school)
  • EPIC Experience
  • One year of experience in patient care

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests and documenting patient care.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
  • Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
  • Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas.
  • Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
