About The Position

Children's Mercy is seeking a Medical Assistant for their Neurology department. This role provides basic, uncomplicated patient care and assists with unit/department operations under the direct supervision of a physician, APRN, PA, or RN. The Medical Assistant will be delegated responsibilities by the medical provider, RN, Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager, or Resource Manager. As a condition of employment, all employees must be willing to receive the seasonal influenza vaccine and may be required to be vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), chickenpox (varicella), and tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) if found non-immune or without evidence of recent vaccination. Medical and/or religious exemptions can be discussed with Human Resources.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years experience
  • 1 year of experience in patient or customer facing roles
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant OR Certified Medical Assistant OR Registered Medical Assistant OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant required upon hire
  • BLS certification Required Upon Hire
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) Required Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides supportive patient care.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficient and safe operations.
  • Performs clerical functions.
  • Attends education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
  • Shares responsibility for teaching and orientation of new personnel (within own skill level).
