About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Medical Assistant for its Nephrology department in Shelbyville. VUMC is a leading institution in Nashville, Tennessee, focused on patient care, education, and research. The Medical Assistant will support the licensed healthcare team in performing office examinations and procedures by organizing and managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, and assisting with patient and family education and communication with the patient's healthcare team. Vanderbilt's nephrology and hypertension experts treat a wide range of kidney conditions, from genetic diseases to complex medical challenges, and provide customized care, including preparation for kidney transplants. Requirements

MA certification organizations recognized by Vanderbilt Health as well as the website link to see information on their certification process: AMT (America Medical Technologists), AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing), NHA (National Health Career Association), NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)
Can sit for exam if they have 12 months of patient care experience.
Consideration may be given to candidates that can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines
Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
Less than 1 year of relevant work experience
