The Medical Assistant with the required training, education and demonstration of clinical competency, performs delegated clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a nurse or licensed physician. This role provides competent technical and clinical services, flexing to daily needs based on CCHMC policy, best practice guidelines, and department needs. The assistant prepares patients for examination and treatment, assists care providers with procedures and physical exams, and provides care consistent with family-centered care and medical home models. They offer flexible, culturally competent, and responsive care, treating families as partners in decision-making and providing information, services, and support collaboratively and respectfully. The role also involves acting as a customer advocate, responding quickly to parent requests and concerns, and providing appropriate education. Collaboration with peers, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a positive work environment are key. Additionally, the Medical Assistant manages records per department policy, assists with data collection, obtains consent forms, maintains patient files, and demonstrates adherence to documentation practices. They may also manage specimens per protocols, maintain knowledge of routine testing processes, retrieve test results, and communicate normal lab results as delegated.
