The Medical Assistant/NCT provides patient care services in a back-office setting to meet patients’ specific needs. The role performs radiology and clinical back-office duties within the scope of practice and applicable company policies, state regulations, competency checklists, and accreditation requirements. Under direct supervision, the employee assists providers with examinations, procedures, and other direct patient care processes, observes and reports changes in patient condition, follows standing orders, and dispenses prescriptions and medications according to policy. The position also performs moderate-complexity clinical testing in authorized disciplines, such as chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis, following the laboratory’s COLA-approved procedures. Responsibilities include instrument calibration and quality control, maintaining audit-ready records for COLA inspections, participating in competency assessments and proficiency testing, processing specimens and recording results in the Laboratory Information System, and promptly notifying the attending Texas healthcare provider of critical results. The employee is expected to follow company policies and quality, safety, environmental, infection-control, laboratory, and clinical accreditation standards; participate in education programs and required meetings; complete assigned checklists and duties that support regulatory compliance; and treat patients and coworkers in accordance with the company’s mission, vision, values, and performance standards. Employees may be cross-trained and assigned to front-office or back-office functions, or both, according to clinic staffing and business needs.
