About The Position

The Medical Assistant NCT works under the general direction of the physician with the assistance of the clinical coordinator if applicable, and reports directly to the office manager. This role provides healthcare to individuals and families as instructed by the physician, performs routine clinical procedures, participates in patient education, and enters appropriate documentation into patients’ health records. The Medical Assistant NCT performs all other duties assigned within the scope of their certification.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years healthcare related experience in your field.
  • Current approved medical assistant credential or credential obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Current NCT permit through the Texas Medical Board.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality and uses complete discretion when discussing patient information.
  • Implements patient care and patient follow-up, including notification of lab results, tasking messages, phone calls, and updating patient information under the guidance of physicians and/or the practice manager.
  • May perform intramuscular, intradermal, or subcutaneous injections with complete documentation.
  • Assists physicians and/or MAs in providing nursing care to patients in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.
  • Takes patient history and vitals.
  • Demonstrates an extensive working knowledge and practice of infection control procedures.
  • Cleans and disinfects all instruments and maintains QA reports for the autoclave.
  • Performs all nurse / injection only visits with appropriate documentation.
  • Performs all X-rays and PFT.
  • Prepares FMLA forms and various documents for physician review and signature, such as home health and prescription pre-certifications.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
