The Mohs Medical Assistant/Surgical Technician plays a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing Mohs micrographic surgery. This position ensures a safe, efficient, and quality-focused outpatient surgical setting by performing patient assessments, offering education, supporting procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation. This role is vital for maintaining surgical flow, ensuring patient safety, and supporting the best clinical outcomes. This position will require travel to Spokane Valley and Coeur d’Alene, ID, to ambulatory surgery centers. All applicants must be Certified Medical Assistants or Registered/Certified Surgical Technicians.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or Surgical Technician
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required
  • Proficiency in using EMR systems on an iPad and basic computer applications
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile technique
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented
  • Certified Medical Assistants or Registered/Certified Surgical Technicians

Nice To Haves

  • Dermatology or Mohs surgery experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake, review health history, and assist in developing care plans
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative education to patients and families
  • Prepare surgical rooms, instruments, and supplies
  • Assist the surgeon during procedures, maintaining a sterile field
  • Scrub in, pass instruments, cut sutures, and support procedural flow
  • Administer local anesthesia under physician supervision
  • Monitor patient safety throughout procedures and recovery
  • Accurately document all patient care and procedures in EMR
  • Maintain detailed records of follow-up care and patient communication
  • Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and operation of equipment (including autoclave)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant surgical environment
  • Assist patients with mobility post-procedure to ensure safety
  • Provide clear written post-operative instructions and support follow-up communication
  • Adhere to all safety, infection control, and HIPAA standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
