Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - LGBTQ & Infectious Disease Clinic
About The Position
This role is open to both Certified Medical Assistant and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) candidates! The Medical Assistant role is in a fast-paced, supportive, and rewarding environment where you will work side by side with providers and teammates, helping patients feel their best while keeping the clinic running smoothly. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role involves conducting assessments, collecting patient data, administering medications, and documenting care, playing a key role in delivering excellent healthcare in a variety of dynamic environments. Both roles are crucial to providing excellent patient care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program (for MA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NRCMA, or CCMA) – Required at time of hire and must be maintained (for MA)
- Current BLS Certification (or ability to obtain before starting)
- Knowledge of POCT, Immunizations, and Injections
- Strong Problem-Solving Skills
- Excellent Organization & Time Management
- Customer Service Skills
- Comfortable with Microsoft applications and EMR systems
- Graduation from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program (for LPN)
- Current license as a practical nurse in the State of Missouri (for LPN)
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BCLS) (for LPN)
Nice To Haves
- Radiology Certification (if applicable) – If the role requires X-ray functions, you must have radiology training from your MA program or a validated competency checklist.
Responsibilities
- Prep charts, check vitals, and set the stage for great care.
- Administer meds, give immunizations, and collect specimens.
- Assist with minor procedures like wound care and suture removal.
- Keep patient records up to date in our electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Support providers, participate in team huddles, and help keep the clinic running smoothly.
- Help patients understand their treatment plans, new medications, and follow-up care.
- Provide nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse in a variety of settings.
- Perform patient assessments, collect important data, and document the care provided.
- Ensure medications and treatments are properly administered and documented.
- Work alongside a dedicated healthcare team to support patients.
- Perform all duties in alignment with the Missouri State Board of Nurse Practice Act.
