About The Position

This is a Full-time position with benefits eligibility, requiring 40 hours per week. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, with hours ranging from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. The role is based on the Aurora BayCare Medical Center campus, serving the Kepler Family Practice and POB Internal Medicine locations. The pay range for this position is $24.10 - $37.95.

Requirements

Medical Assistant (MA): High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing.
Medical Assistant (MA): Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not needed.
Certified or registered as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification issued by the National Health Career Association (NHA), RMA certification issued by the American Medical Technologists (AMT), Medical Assistant (NCMA) certification issued by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC), or American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Medical Assistant (MA): Typically requires 2 years of experience in performing as a medical assistant which includes demonstrated competency in performing: injections, immunizations, EKG, obtaining vital signs, routine medication administration, aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Typically requires 5 years of experience in nursing that includes experiences in an outpatient physician practice or hospital environment.
Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians.
Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
Assists the department leader to support daily workflow and operations for maximum efficiency and productivity (i.e. developing and modifying staffing schedules, medication/supply ordering, audits, etc.).
Assists with training and onboarding and acts as a resource for the team.
Serves as a role champion or on a committee to support quality, safety, teammate engagement, patient experience, and general process improvement initiatives.
Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking.
Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately.
Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
