About The Position

Supports the operation of the clinical practice by performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks. This position is responsible for assisting physicians and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care through patient preparation, vital sign collection, documentation, and basic clinical procedures. The Medical Assistant also coordinates patient flow, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring a positive patient experience. This position will work closely with Palliative Care ARNP, preparing daily and weekly patient visits for symptom management while receiving Radiation Oncology at MercyOne Dubuque Cancer Center. The ideal candidate has a high attention to detail and takes initiative on task completion. Palliative care brings together physicians, patients, and families in a collaborative partnership to provide compassionate, patient-centered care. Through symptom management, communication, emotional support, and shared decision-making, the team helps patients achieve the best possible quality of life while respecting their goals and values. Administrative Duties include schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up visits, manage incoming phone calls, patient messages, and referrals. Expect to maintain accurate patient records within the electronic health record (EHR), assist with prior authorizations, forms, and care coordination activities and support communication between patients, families, providers, and community resources.

Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed accredited Medical Assistant program.
