About The Position

This is a full-time position within Aurora Medical Group (AMG), part of Advocate Health, a large nonprofit health system. The role involves supporting providers, interacting with patients, and ensuring a seamless and compassionate patient experience in an ambulatory care setting. The Medical Assistant/LPN will be a key member of the care team, responsible for welcoming patients, taking vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for exams, assisting providers, administering medications and vaccines, performing lab tasks, and documenting care in the electronic health record. The position is located at Aurora Family Medicine in St. Francis, WI.

Requirements

  • GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
  • MA: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
  • LPN: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing.
  • MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
