About The Position

HSHS Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join our General Surgery clinic. Ideal candidates are patient focused, mission driven caregivers looking for an opportunity to apply clinical knowledge to coordinate and perform hands on care to support expert, compassionate care to our General Surgery patients. This position is part of the Nursing Support core function within the General Surgery department. The role involves working Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, with a schedule of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Springfield – Pavilion facility in Springfield, IL.

Requirements

• Completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
• Medical Assistant (MA) Certification/Registration required or must be obtained within 90 days of start date from one of the following credentialing organizations: Certified MA from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered MA from American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Certified Clinical MA (CCMA) from National Healthcare Association (NHA), Registered MA from American Allied Health (AAH), Nationally Registered CMA (NRCMA) from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) or Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) from American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), Podiatric MA Certified (PMAC) from American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from International Joint Commission on Allied Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO), Certified Clinical MA (CCMA) from National Performance Specialists (NPS).
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) is required within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• 1 or more years of Medical Assistant experience may be considered in lieu of completion of program per department discretion.
• One year of clinical experience
