About The Position

The Medical Assistant will provide basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education(GED or Technical School may be considered)
  • American Heart Association BLS -CPR certification
  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program or an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic Certification or relative experience as outlined.
  • At least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant including but not limited to vitals, outside medication reconciliation, outside allergy reconciliation, screenings, patient history and virtual health.
  • Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
  • Assists providers with in-house procedures as needed including but not limited to pumps/meters, bladder scan, sterile technique, sutures/staples and gyn exams.
  • Obtains blood samples by venipuncture with competency.
  • Accurately performs tests, such as basic urine chemistry using chemical strips, guaiac, pH, blood glucose, UPT, and hemoculture.
  • Under direction of providers and nurses, provides other treatments and care to patients appropriate to training, as assigned.
  • Prepares and assists patients undergoing treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Provides administrative support including but not limited to scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check in/out, prior authorizations and transportation facilitation.
  • Accurately documents and communicates interventions and measurements, and communicates appropriately to health care provider.
  • Covers the front desk based on business needs.
  • Assists in the maintenance of equipment, supplies, and a clean and safe work environment.
  • Checks equipment and supplies for expiration dates, electrical safety tags, intactness, and usability.
  • Cleans equipment and stores it in its proper place.
  • Reports equipment and supplies needing to be replaced or repaired to manager.
  • Stocks rooms, carts, cabinets, etc. as assigned.
