This role is responsible for delivering patient care, including patient preparation, vital sign collection, and documentation. The Medical Assistant/LPN will assist with various procedures, exams, and diagnostic equipment, maintaining aseptic techniques during preparation, procedures, and medication administration. They will administer medications, treatments, and immunizations under the direction of providers, and prepare and organize patient charts with necessary information, including filing dictations and ensuring completion of all required documentation. Communication with patients regarding test results and care plans is essential. The role involves scheduling procedures, labs, x-rays, and surgeries, providing pre- and post-surgery information, and assisting with patient outreach for overdue visits, labs, and referrals. Coordination of physician schedules and insurance pre-certifications, as well as scheduling and managing patient follow-ups to ensure continuity of care, are key responsibilities. Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to organizational standards and ethical guidelines is paramount. The position requires educating patients and families based on assessed needs and discharge plans, and promoting evidence-based resources to optimize nursing practice and patient care. The Medical Assistant/LPN will proactively serve as a patient advocate, utilizing courteous and professional etiquette, and ensuring accurate and complete messages are relayed to appropriate personnel. Assistance with training, orienting, and supporting new colleagues is expected, with potential for cross-coverage in other clinic areas. Documentation of patient care plans, tests, and examination results in the medical record is required, and non-routine issues should be escalated to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s). Ensuring safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required is also part of the role. The position requires maintaining a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, and other policies and procedures to ensure honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
