About The Position

This role is for a Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Waterloo Family Practice. The position is full-time, working a day shift schedule of 80 hours per full-time period, Monday through Friday. The primary responsibilities involve patient care, including preparing exam rooms, greeting and preparing patients for exams, documenting patient history and medications, taking vital signs, assisting providers with procedures, and communicating effectively between providers and patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant Diploma or LPN/RN license.
  • Intermediate language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to effectively interact with other health care professionals and the public.
  • Ability to present a positive image.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • 6-month experience in a clinic setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze records for completeness and patient history.
  • Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for patient care.
  • Greet, identify patient and prepare patient for exam while protecting patient’s privacy.
  • Review/document current medication and allergies.
  • Take vital signs, obtain chief complaints, history, and documents.
  • Assist provider with routine procedures and provide patient care as directed by provider (i.e., immunizations, spirometry, injections, EKG, nebulizer, ear washing, wart removal).
  • Assist providers with patient care via phone, mail and/or fax.
  • Communicate effectively between provider and patient.
