About The Position

Under minimal supervision, this role is responsible for the coordination of daily activities for Medical Assistants to ensure optimal clinical flow. The Lead Medical Assistant provides interpretation and instruction for policies, procedures, and practices, and coaches the performance of Medical Assistants. This position is an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing the highest quality of care to patients the UT Health Way.

Responsibilities

• Meets all training and competency requirements.
• Provides schedules for staffing at respective clinic and provides support for staff and clinicians.
• Coordinates scheduling of patient tests, ensuring follow-up appointments with physician are scheduled.
• Provides in-service training and acts as a preceptor; coaches and assists with performance evaluations for medical assistants.
• Participates with leadership team to ensure effective clinical operations.
• May document patient exams in electronic health record, noting specifically the exam components, diagnoses, treatment plans, orders, and medications.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POCT), documents and reports clinical findings to Registered Nurse (RN) in charge and/or Provider.
• Demonstrates proficiency of all MA clinical and administrative duties.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
