As a Medical Assistant Lead, you will play an important role in supporting exceptional patient care, leading clinical workflows, and serving as a trusted resource for the Medical Assistant team at our Westwood location. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant who enjoys mentoring others, improving processes, and helping create a positive, collaborative clinical environment. The Medical Assistant Lead combines hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities, providing guidance and support to the clinical team while partnering with providers and operational leaders to deliver an outstanding patient experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 3 years of Medical Assistant experience with demonstrated proficiency in clinical and administrative responsibilities required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and ambulatory care workflows.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
  • Ability to perform clinical skills including obtaining vital signs, manual blood pressure readings, and collecting blood samples and other specimens.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Ability to foster a positive, collaborative team culture.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other privacy and security regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience training, mentoring, or supporting other Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Experience working in an outpatient, urgent care, or ambulatory care setting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the Medical Assistant team, including training, mentoring, and performance guidance.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model, promoting teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Coordinate daily clinical operations, including patient flow, staffing coverage, and workload distribution to ensure efficient care delivery.
  • Perform Medical Assistant duties, including patient intake, obtaining medical histories, recording vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting providers with patient care.
  • Assist providers with complex office-based procedures and support quality control initiatives.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members to support effective use of resources and team productivity.
  • Participate in the interview process for new Medical Assistants and serve as a preceptor for new hires and students.
  • Assist with competency assessments and provide input regarding Medical Assistant performance evaluations.
  • Create and coordinate coverage schedules for the Medical Assistant team.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical staff, the Practice Manager, Medical Director, and providers to support communication and resolution of clinical issues.
  • Support the implementation of new clinical initiatives and process improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with Mass General Brigham policies, procedures, HIPAA requirements, and patient privacy standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
