About The Position

MidSouth Pain Treatment Center, a PartnerCare affiliated company, is seeking a Medical Assistant II to join our growing and established practice in Tupelo, MS. Our practice focuses on taking care of the patient with a comprehensive plan, delivering high customer service, keeping patients safe and well-informed and reducing patients' pain as much as possible. We are committed to the betterment of our communities by providing comprehensive pain management care led by interventional pain specialists so that our patients can live their best functional lives. Our team of physicians, nurses, anesthesiologists, and staff are dedicated to ensuring that patients can improve their quality of life with pain relief that involves the use of cutting-edge technology. The Medical Assistant, under general supervision, provides appropriate care to patients as well as follows PartnerCare's service standards. You will be a part of the Clinical Care Team and will engage with our patients to develop lifelong well-being and health. The right person for this role will delight in providing a great experience to the patient and demonstrate compassion to those experiencing chronic and/or acute pain.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Two or more years of medical assisting experience required.
  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), preferably ECW

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistants/ Aides course
  • Cover My Meds Program Preferred.
  • Previous work experience preferred.
  • Current ACLS and/or CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, temperature; and reporting patient history summary.
  • Confirm with patient medical history
  • Collect lab samples for testing.
  • Provide support to physicians or other licensed providers during examinations.
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Counsels patients by transmitting physician’s orders and questions about medications or procedures.
  • Act as a patient liaison in coordinating referrals and diagnostic tests on behalf of patients.
  • Update and file medical records and referral notes ensuring information is current and organized.
  • Prepare examination rooms in accordance with biohazard training ensuring cleanliness and readiness for patient visits.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Perform other assignments such as assisting with orientation, clinic opening or closing processes, supply inventory and ordering (linen, medical supplies, medications), data collection, patient calls, and quality improvement and/or problem-solving initiatives.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, advising office manager of orders needed and verifying receipt.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and training.
  • Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, company policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.
  • Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Works amicably with others.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
