About The Position

Join a fast-paced Spine Multi-Specialty Clinic where you’ll gain hands-on experience, build strong relationships with providers, and expand your clinical skills across multiple specialties. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their career who wants real exposure—not just routine tasks. This role involves direct patient care and clinical direction, ensuring the completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, managing patient flow, performing general lab work, instructing patients, and ensuring medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. It also includes registration and scheduling activities, maintaining EMR files, and performing general front office functions. The position may involve computerized physician order entry and precepting MA team members or externs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a MA Program is required.
  • Certified candidates meet requirements for a MA II position.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required.
  • Current certification in medical assisting required from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC).
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists.
  • Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.

  • TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred.
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.

Responsibilities

  • Room and prepare 20+ patients daily in a busy clinical environment
  • Draw up and administer injections
  • Perform TENS unit trials
  • Assist providers with in-clinic procedures
  • Manage patient message pools and follow-ups
  • Support scheduling in partnership with front office staff
  • Rotate across three specialties to build broad clinical experience
  • Perform duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction
  • Assure completeness of ordered procedures and treatments
  • Assure smooth patient flow
  • Perform general lab work
  • Instruct patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs
  • Ensure medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner
  • Perform registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures
  • Maintain EMR files and perform general front office functions as needed
  • May perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician
  • Precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership
