Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant OR completion of a Medical Assistant program that meets the BOMEX training guidelines OR completion of a United States Armed Forces medical services training program OR meet necessary guidelines as described in Arizona Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code, Title 4, Chapter 16, Article 4, Section R4-16-401.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • 1 year of experience as an MA in a medical setting, or 6 months of experience as an MA at NOAH.
  • Strong knowledge of medical practices and front and back-office procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with individuals of various social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented and professional.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises.
  • New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).
  • Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or must pass fingerprint clearance within 7 days following hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience using an EHR system preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience coordinating a vaccine program preferred.
  • 1+ years of supervisory and/or training experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining efficient patient flow within the clinic.
  • Performing all duties of a Medical Assistant (MA).
  • Supporting supervisors in training new MA staff.
  • Responsible for operational and clerical tasks, project work, and assigned programs.
  • Demonstrating strong clinical skills and expertise in all relevant systems and processes.
  • Serving as a resource to step in and cover any needs of the clinic (float position).
  • Providing advice and training to the Medical Assistant staff.
  • Ensuring staff adhere to and follow all organizational policies, safety standards, and healthcare regulations.
  • Performing regular internal audits on departmental processes and procedures.
  • Providing consultation on complex projects and acting as a top-level contributor regarding EHR systems or other related department systems, including systems training and processes.
  • Overseeing inventory, storage, handling, tracking, and reporting of all vaccines daily in clinic and during events.
  • Working in a team model to improve the patient's experience, provide clear communication and access to care, and support processes that will improve patient satisfaction.
  • Preparing patients for examination, taking vitals, and recording patients' health history.
  • Setting up EKG machines, administering injections and medications, and performing routine specimen collection and tests.
  • Preparing equipment and examination rooms and cleaning instruments.
  • Assisting providers with medical treatments, procedures, and exams.
  • Managing inventory of medical supplies and equipping exam rooms with appropriate supplies.
  • Receiving and directing phone calls, scheduling appointments, checking-in patients, obtaining necessary patient information to file and updating patient records, and ensuring all forms and consents are completed by patients.
  • Checking out patients, assisting with referral processing, and arranging laboratory services.
  • Organizing and communicating with insurance companies for authorizations for therapies, testing, and specialist referrals.
  • Submitting appropriate referrals for employees.
  • Attending, participating, and/or assisting in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other activities as required.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
