About The Position

The Iowa River Landing Dermatology Clinic is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant II. Under direct supervision of a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse, this role performs technical, patient care, and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting. Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment. The position is responsible for facilitating the smooth flow of patients through the clinic by interacting with patients, families, and staff. It involves assisting in clinic with physical examinations and related treatments, including taking patient history, medication records, allergies, and immunizations. The role also manages internal and external medical records to ensure accurate and complete data is available for patient appointments. Additionally, it involves administering routine medications (oral, rectal, or injectable) that do not require a high level of skill or nursing judgment, performing routine laboratory tests, electrocardiograms, and x-ray work as needed. Identifying vaccination needs, performing clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information to other departments are also key responsibilities. The role further includes assisting in obtaining insurance prior authorizations, assisting with procedures and sterile set-up, assisting with scribing and documentation during visits, and providing support in phototherapy and medication refills. Requirements

  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, or Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Responsibilities
