Your Role as a Medical Assistant II As a key member of our clinical team, you will ensure our patients receive exceptional care through: Procedure Support: Provide direct assistance during specialized urologic exams and procedures. GENERAL SUMMARY The Medical Assistant II (MA II) supports the delivery of urological services, performs work as required and functions as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team. The Medical Assistant II is tasked to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates/work with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience (based on State regulation requirements).
  • 6 months experience working within a physician’s office desired.
  • Urology experience desired.
  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform well in stressful situations.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR, Practice Management Solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Project Management.
  • Vendor relations (for those MA’s that are required to order office and clinical supplies).
  • Database management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly.
  • Collaborate and work with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes.
  • Perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of their assigned direct supervisor.
  • Confer with physicians, nursing, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule appointments of patients.
  • Greet and prepare patients.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
  • Provide patient education with regards to medications, management of diseases, home treatments and special diets.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routing screening tests.
  • Assist physicians with exams.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens.
  • Perform basic lab tests.
  • Perform EKG’s.
  • Assist with X-ray and physician therapy procedures.
  • Prepare and administer medications with physician authorization.
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and other first aid procedures.
  • Use CPR skills when necessary.
  • Prepare accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Open office in the morning and close in the afternoon.
  • Assist in maintaining patient logs for lab requests, CT scans and other treatment orders for the patients.
  • Maintain prescription ledger when needed.
  • Ensure the back office has good flow, keeps rooms full and assists with room turnover.
  • Perform new patient thorough work-up (x-rays, vitals, new patient packet explanation).
  • Add medical history on all new patients and accurately update all established patients’ history.
  • Perform accurate and complete room set-up for physician.
  • Ensure that all patients medication is updated before physician visit.
  • Handle set-up for in office surgical procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate consent form is completed correctly avoiding the use of too many medical abbreviations within the consent forms.
  • Scribe as assigned per physician office flow.
  • Prepare for seeing patients the following day, including patient confirmation for next day visit.
  • Complete patient medical record requests when necessary.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new personnel.
  • Assist with other administrative projects and tasks as needed.
  • Ensure proper hand off of responsibilities once their task is completed.
  • Meet established attendance criteria and start work promptly.
  • Be punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts.
  • Respect and acknowledge the organizations commitment to cultural diversity, which is expressed through behavior, language and actions.
  • Consistently demonstrate good use of time and resources.
  • Adhere to HR, & Corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all medical records are accurate and complete for all patients.
  • Ensure compliance of healthcare regulations, medical laws and high ethical standards.
  • Regularly adhere and support compliance and accreditation efforts as assigned including, but not limited to OSHA, HIPAA & CMS guidelines for Parts C & D on General Compliance and Fraud, Waste & Abuse.
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned.
