About The Position

Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, providing comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties. The Medical Assistant should provide quality patient care in a prompt and professional manner; assists in delivery of patient education; responsible for communication of patient information to and from physician; assumes various job tasks as assigned. Responsible for direct, individualized, goal-directed patient care under the supervision of Physician. Responsible for scrubbing on surgical procedures and knowledgeable of the principles of aseptic technique and sterilization. Performs a variety of tasks such as care of instruments, supplies, sutures, needles and basic equipment as well as stocking, cleaning and inventory, etc. This position will be responsible for scheduling all surgical and endoscopy cases for practice physicians.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical training through a certificate program or at least 2 years experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting (e.g., clinical lab, physician's office, Emergency Medical Tech.).
  • Understanding of Medical Terminology required.
  • BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in one of the following areas is preferred: LPN, Lab, Radiology, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Physician Office, Scrub Tech.
  • CMA or RMA preferred.
