About The Position

The Medical Assistant II provides clinical and clerical support to providers and members of the patient care team by performing back-office and patient-related tasks that support high-quality patient care. The role helps maintain smooth patient and departmental workflows and assists the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care. It uses education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to build confidence and cooperation with patients, their families or support groups, and other healthcare providers. All duties are performed under the direction of a clinician. This is a limited-term, full-time position in Sleep Medicine, scheduled for day shifts, Monday through Friday, with eight-hour shifts and 40 hours per week. No weekend work is required. The position is non-exempt.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program; diploma must be presented within 90 days.
Completion of a 160-hour Medical Assistant externship, verified on the MA school website.
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
One year of recent relevant experience.
General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment.
Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
Competency and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections.
Ability to interpret data and instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
Time management and organizational skills, including prioritizing assignments and working within standardized procedures and scientific methods to meet objectives and deadlines.
General knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
