About The Position

The Medical Assistant Urgent Care is cross trained to perform a variety of administrative and clinical duties while working collaboratively with the providers, office supervisor, and practice manager. This position provides professional patient care such as recording vitals, taking patient history, and preparing patients for examination under the supervision of the provider. The Medical Assistant assists with providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes and functions as a liaison between patients, staff, and providers. The Medical Assistant strives to improve the health status, wellness, and quality of life for our customers, employees, and the community through disease prevention, health promotion, and injury care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Program Medical Assisting
  • In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association - required within 90 days of hire
  • One of the following certifications within 6 months of hire: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients
  • Obtaining a comprehensive medical history
  • Documenting care of patient via electronic medical record
  • Administering vaccines, injections, and medications
  • Phlebotomy
  • Point of care testing
  • Medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider
  • Gathering requirements from internal and external customers
  • Providing information via phone, electronic messaging and in person
