About The Position

This position provides direct patient care, which may include rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, administering vaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medication reconciliation. The role also involves providing customer service to internal and external customers via phone, electronic, and in person. Duties may include patient registration, initiating and following through on prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills. The Medical Assistant will enter patient information into an electronic medical records system and use systems to produce and conduct referrals, prior authorizations, medication research, and other related duties.

Requirements

Prior Medical Assisting experience preferred.
Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
Knowledge of hematology/blood collection technology, techniques, and procedures.
Customer service skills.
Knowledge of terminology used in diagnosis and classification of illnesses, injuries, and disabilities.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to show sincere interest in others and their concerns.
Understanding of patient handling techniques.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, generic and trade names, and ICD coding.
Ability to develop effective relationships with patients, hospital departments, and external parties.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
