Position is located in Oakland at a Pediatric Specialty Office. Assists in the examination and treatment of patients by tracking patient information, documenting the medical record, assisting with in office procedures and testing, administering medications and providing patient and caregiver education. Duties are performed under the oversight and direction of professional clinical staff and providers as outlined in the Clinical Support Staff Scope of Practice document. The following job functions may not be the IHA CARES Values expectation as outlined in IHA Performance Review document, relative to position. Some MA II’s will be assigned work that has more focused responsibilities (example: supporting Service Center Pods). Performs all Essential Job Functions from Medical Assistant I - Non-Credentialed/Credentialed job description. Assumes additional duties: Indirect Work support, e.g., managing tasks. Test Tracking. Performs moderate to complex Gaps in Care. Supply/Medication ordering. Support within scope with prior authorizations. Quality control, e.g., lab logs, practice audits. Maintains clinical equipment and calibration. Surgery scheduling. VFC ordering, balancing, inventorying, billing. May be designated as Vaccine Coordinator. Ensures VIM/MCIR completion, error correction. OSHA/Safety rep; keeps protocols and staff updated. Transcribes patient exam information, diagnosis and plan into medical record. Assists with specialty-specific tasks after completion of training. Credentialed MA: TB testing. Completes training as assigned. Creates a positive, professional, service-oriented work environment for staff, patients and family members by supporting the mission and values of both IHA and Trinity Health. Must be able to work effectively as a member of the clinical care team. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management. Maintains complete knowledge of office services and in the use of all relevant office equipment, computer and manual systems.
